About Rockridge

Rockridge is one of the best neighborhoods in the entire East Bay. Home values have emained strong, the schools are some of the best in Oakland and given its proximity to restaurants, shopping and public transportation it is a great place to live and commute from. I’ve listed and sold many homes since since 1998 and Rockridge remains, in my opinion the crown jewel neighborhood of Oakland. So much so I decided to become a homeowner myself.

Large sections of Upper Rockridge burned during the 1991 Oakland Hills fire leaving a blank neighborhood canvas that has had many grand scale homes built back by some of the areas premier architects and builders. Some homes enjoy excellent views of San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge and Downtown Oakland. The area is hilly but generally not to steep. Public pathways run throughout the area and are great way to get some exercise and see the neighborhood. The homes and lot sizes tend to be bigger than those in lower Rockridge.

Upper Rockridgeis located in the Oakland Hills south of Highway 24 and below Highway 13. The neighborhood begins starts above Broadway and runs south (around the Mountain View Cemetery and the Claremont Country Club) down to Moraga Ave. At the intersection of Broadway Terrace and Clarewood Dr. there is the Village Market, a charming grocery store and an adjoyning coffee house and the Broadway Terrace Nursery. Upper Rockrige residents are only minutes to Montclair Village Shopping District to the north and the Rockridge Shopping District on College Ave to the south. Some addresses in Upper Rockridge are assigned to Hillcrest School which is the premier school in OUSD. Other address attend Chabot School and Montclair Elementary.
